The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1
- Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows NT sorts groups by group type (common groups or local groups), and
then sorts again within these types. The first group type listed is Common
groups. Common groups are sorted alphabetically. The second type of group
listed is Personal Groups. These groups are sorted numerically by the group
number.
The group number information is stored in the registry at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current\Program
Manager\Groups
WARNING: Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-
wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows NT to correct
them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the se
of the Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk.
You can change the order of the Personal groups by changing the string
associated with the group number.
